Happy Mother's Day

Here's my card, which I adore. It's from Abel and Game, my favourite card shop.

Beautiful, simple words were strung together. Abi signed her own name and drew a chocolate cake and her and Teddy too.

We are off to Doyle's at The Rocks for a family lunch including 9 adults, 3 preschoolers and Teddy too.

I hope today is special for each and every Mum out there. To the old and young, the Mum's who are expecting a wee bub soon, to the Nannas and Grandmothers. My heart goes out to anyone who might struggle through today. We lost our Nanna right before Mother's Day and the feelings were still so raw when we had to celebrate a few weeks later. Go easy today my friends.

With that, I'm off to pick outfits and sip my latte.

Happy Sunday to you all and Happy Mother's Day!

Sunday 230111

We collectively slept in till 9:45am which my husband needed desperately after all the late nights he has had lately. He has been on the go since he arrived home from Singapore last Wednesday and has been out every night with colleagues from the USA.

Spent 2 hours perusing the papers while Abi kept herself amused in her room. Finally at midday we decided that it was too hot and nice a day to stay indoors so we headed to the northern beaches for some relief.

We had lunch at a busy beachside cafe and then headed down to the rockpools of Freshwater Beach. Abi was a little timid at first, but loved that she could run into the water and it was very shallow.

I sat on a rock and watched my loves frolick in the shallow water. My cossie is a little too tight around my belly at the moment so I didn't go in the water. Major regrets too, because the water was a balmy 24'c and looked so inviting. I saw many other expecting mothers all cooling off in the surf, I was very jealous! Still, my view wasn't too bad.  I stared at this for about 45 minutes.

The breeze picked up and the clouds rolled in, so James went to get the car as we had parked on the other side of the beach. What a gem of a husband, I didn't have to trek all the way back through the hot, soft sand.

Bumper to bumper traffic all the way back to the city, as many beach-goers left at the same time we did. We decided to shower and head out for dinner, since we both weren't in the mood for cooking.

Our bathroom floor was covered in sand after undressing Abi and we all enjoyed a cool shower before changing and heading out to our favourite local cafe, Cafe Sopra at Fratelli Fresh in Walsh Bay. Abi behaved like an angel and we enjoyed stuffed zucchini flowers, breadsticks, ragu bolognaise and spaghetti and meatballs.

Despite being full as bulls, I was craving something sweet for dessert and we drove from Walsh Bay to Glebe and shared some hot churros with chocolate dipping sauce. I was so full, I could have rolled home.

All in all, a perfect family Sunday.

Sunday 200610

Was up till 1:30am, talking with James about life and all my current struggles. So lovely and patient, he sat up with me and listened.

Heard all the fans on the streets for the early morning world cup match, no horns though, thank goodness. Just beeping cars, drunk girls, taxis etc.

Abi was up at 8:30am but James let me sleep in till 9:30am, what a god.

Had thick raison toast and juice for breakfast.

Headed to Cafe Sopra for lunch in Walsh Bay. Our favourite. Abigail loves the pasta there, which we love too.

Drove to Abi's favourite park in Pyrmont for sun, salty breezes, swings and slides. The park was PACKED and we struggled to find peace anywhere. I sat on the soft grass (right in the middle of the picture below) and read the paper, front to back. James ran around with Abi then we swapped places. Abi threw sticks into the harbour and we counted planes and boats going past.

Home time. Abi had a nap while we tackled the folding of a week's worth of laundry. Gah, my most loathed thing to go. Folding.

We had Thai takeout which I didn't enjoy as much as usual.

Another week over. Quiet week ahead too which I'm looking forward to.

Sunday 160510

Sunday.
Abi woke up early but J got up with her letting me sleep in till 9am. Bliss.
Have razor throat feeling and need vitamins pronto.
Grilled haloumi with scrambled eggs with parsley and cherry tomatoes for breakfast.
Drive to Mosman and buy coffee, fresh orange juice and banana bread.
Walk around shops. Buy Abi these things.

1. Fred Bare Nylon Parker
2. Minti 'More Sleep' tee
3. Bobble Art Travel Bag

Drive down to Balmoral, get the rockstar carpark right in front of the park and takeaway shop. YES! Sometimes getting a good car park, REALLY excites me. Only because I know how much it upsets me to NOT get a good car spot.
Walk over to Rocky Point and take photos.

Sit on rug while Abi eats her lunch and we share a *naughty* bucket of hot chips. Abi chases birds and is adorable. People walk past and smile at her. She is squealing and laughing.  Resisted to kiss her because of stupid razor throat.
Took some photos with my new lens. And here's the best of them below;

OK, so I tried. I can't resist, a kiss on the cheek!

Dark stormy clouds appear.
Drive home and Abi has a 2 hr nap.
Look at houses on the internet. Feel slightly depressed.
Have a late afternoon cuddle in bed with J. Accidently fall asleep. Having an affair with my doona.
Leftover rissoles for dinner which means NO cooking or cleaning up, woo!
Flick between The Osbournes, Black Adder, True Blood and other random shows on cable.
In bed before midnight (hooray) and fall asleep with a Strepsil in my mouth.
Sunday.
