Flashback Friday.

East 17 - It's Alright

Wow, this song takes me back to 1994. I was in Year 7 at school. This came out the same week as the Year 7 disco. I snuck James in, because our disco was exclusive, barf, reserved for the few schools in the area and James went to a school closer to the Hills District. We danced all night and when this song came on, man, we cut up a rug together. Then my best friend at the time fainted, because she had been jabbed with immunisations that day (to trek to Nepal with her family in the school holidays!!) and her body just couldn't handle all the crazy viruses in her body, along with the subwoofers thumping and me, in her face, dancing and sweating away. Lucky for us, ALL the parents were waiting outside the gym for the disco to finish so she was whisked away.

What a night, what great memories. That friend went on to become an Olympic and Commonwealth Games cyclist and is still competing today. We still talk every now and then. So that's my Friday Flashback.

Have a great weekend everyone, xx

  1. In 1994, I was in year 12 and turned 18. So a wee bit older than you. I was heavily into grunge/indie music and was loving the fact that I could legally get into the Phoenician Club to see bands like Pavement & Sebadoh.

I do remember going to the local discos when I was younger though, and thinking how glam I was.

  2. Oh i'm older still, in 1994 i was starting 2nd year Uni & was turning 19, is that song/ band/ memory really that long ago?? Our school didn't do discos, OMG, we might meet a boy, no, never!! My daughter's high school however, does, times have changed, good for her. I do threaten that if she doesn't come out on time, i'll dance across the disco/ school gym to find her, so everyone knows who her mother is, it works, so does SMS "i'm here, you have 10 minutes" as you don't have to listen for a text, love those benefits of technology!! Love Posie
