Flashback Friday.

Queen - Another One Bites The Dust

Today we rejected the contract to buy a house. The terms weren't quite right and the house, aged 25 years old, needed complete gutting and renovation.

We estimated at least another $75-100K was needed on top of the asking price to make the house liveable and comfortable to our standards, so we had to walk away.

James and I have barely slept the last few nights, debating whether or not we should buy this house. It was a HUGE house, 6 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 3 garage. But due to its size, renovating would have been very expensive. All bathrooms needed gutting and renovation, as well as the kitchen, floor surface, carpets, blinds, lights, garage ceiling, basically the whole house.

I feel sad but I know we made the right decision. We would have been living below the poverty line after we finished renovating, which is just something we could never do.

I know something perfect is around the corner. Until then, this song will be on my ipod, playing over and over.

Happy Friday to all,

xx

  1. Oh I'm sorry to hear about the house. I hope another, more perfect, house comes along soon.

Another one bites the dust! I have memories of hearing that song blaring from a bar when I was a little kid in Trinidad.

  2. Bummer! You have to look at it though as it wasn't THE one and wasn't meant to be. We missed out on a house at auction which I was GUTTED about...thought it was THE one and then, what do you know, 2 months later we find THE THE THE one which we are moving into in 3 weeks time. Squee! So it really is true. Promise. JUST around the corner...and until then? You have the Whitsundays...right?
